Next Steps

Before you can apply to the CYBF program, you will need to start by working on a Business Plan. You can use our Interactive Business Planner found on our web site to help guide you in writing your plan.

While you are writing your Business Plan, return to the CYBF web site and go to the Locations page of our site to find the CYBF Community Partner organization closest to your home. Your local CYBF Community Partner will help you with your application to the Newcomer Program and can answer any questions you might have, so contact them today!

In addition to your Business Plan, you will also need to get a letter from your bank confirming your account status, as well as reference letters in order to complete your application for the Newcomer Program. A sample of each of these items is available by clicking on the hyperlinks below.

Once you have completed your Business Plan and have your Bank Letter and References ready, you will need to submit your online application to CYBF. Contact your Community Partner to get the access code to register in our system and then complete the online application form. CYBF will then begin the process of reviewing your application.

How This Program Is Different To Help You.

CYBF recognizes that young people often face significant barriers to starting their own business and that newcomers to the country sometimes face additional barriers such as language difficulties and requirements for Canadian credit history or work experience. That's why our application process and program caters to you and your needs. Our program includes:

  • Adjudication requirements that have been altered to allow individuals who do not have credit history or long standing references to apply with different documentation
  • An attempt by CYBF to match each new business with a mentor who shares the same first language and who has a strong knowledge of the Canadian small business market
